For the best experience during your first appointment, we recommend bringing a few items. Please bring 2-3 pairs of your most frequently worn shoes, as well as any current orthotics, braces, or equipment you may be using. It’s helpful to wear clothing that provides access to your feet and lower limbs and is comfortable for movement. Additionally, noting any symptoms, discomfort, and factors impacting these can help us in creating a diagnosis and treatment plan. 

You do not need a referral to book an appointment with our podiatrists. However, if you are using an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan, a referral is necessary to claim under Medicare. Some private health insurance claims might also require a referral for certain conditions – we suggest confirming with your GP or provider if unsure. 

Often, podiatry is covered by private health insurance, though details can differ between policies and providers. We advise checking with your private health insurance provider before booking to avoid any unexpected expenses. 

During your initial appointment, your podiatrist will take some time to get to know you and explore the concerns you have, your medical history and your treatment goals. We then complete a detailed examination of your feet and lower limbs which commonly includes gait analysis and specific attention on any areas of concern. Once we have completed our examination, we’ll discuss our findings and recommendations moving forward. 

If you have persistent or worsening foot pain, skin or nail conditions, injuries that won’t heal, or any other foot-related issues affecting your daily life and health, it’s time to see a podiatrist. Early treatment can provide more options, so it’s wise to seek professional help if you’re concerned.
