Please bring 2-3 pairs of your most frequently worn shoes, as well as any current orthotics, braces, or equipment you may be using. It’s helpful to wear clothing that provides access to your feet and lower limbs and is comfortable for movement. Additionally, noting any symptoms, discomfort, and factors impacting these can help us in creating a diagnosis and treatment plan. 

No, a referral is not required to book with our podiatrists. If you are accessing our services under an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan you will need a referral to claim under Medicare. Some private health insurance claims may also benefit from a referral for some conditions – we recommend checking with your GP or provider if you are not sure. 

In many instances, private health insurance covers podiatry, but the specifics depend on your policy and provider. We recommend checking with your insurance provider before booking to ensure there are no unexpected costs. 

During your first visit, your podiatrist will take time to learn about your medical history, concerns, and treatment goals. We’ll then thoroughly examine your feet and lower limbs, typically performing gait analysis and focusing on any specific issues. Once the examination is complete, we’ll review our findings with you and discuss the recommended course of action. 

You should consider seeing a podiatrist if you experience ongoing or increasing pain, skin or nail issues, injuries that aren’t healing properly, or any foot problems impacting your daily activities and health. The earlier you start treatment, the more options you’ll have, so seeking professional advice is advisable if you have concerns.
